Municipality of Wachtebeke
The municipality of Wachtebeke, located in the heart of East Flanders, is committed to serving its citizens in the best possible way. With a rapidly changing digital landscape, it was essential to modernize both the municipality’s website and intranet. The goal was to enhance digital interaction with residents while ensuring efficient internal communication.
The Request
The municipality urgently needed a new, modern website that would provide citizens with quick and efficient access to information and services. Simultaneously, a new intranet was required to support and optimize internal processes. The previous website no longer met current technical standards, and the intranet was in need of a thorough overhaul. The challenge was to create a user-friendly, future-proof digital environment that would meet these needs.
The Solution
To address these challenges, a comprehensive digital transformation was initiated. The website was migrated to Drupal 9, supported by the user-friendly Paddle CMS. A thorough preliminary analysis was conducted, including a card-sorting session and user surveys to determine the ideal navigation structure. This analysis served as the foundation for developing both the new website and the intranet.
The website was equipped with various modules, including advanced search functions, a business directory, and a calendar. A customized MailChimp newsletter template was integrated to ensure smooth and professional communication with citizens. Additionally, a comprehensive training program was provided for content editors and administrators, enabling them to manage the content independently.
The intranet, set up as a secured subsite, was structured with specific access rights and visibility rules. This approach significantly improved both external and internal communication for the municipality.
The Result
The renewed website of Wachtebeke went live on June 1, 2022, and has since proven to be a powerful and user-friendly platform. Citizens can now find the information and services they need more quickly and easily. The intranet provides municipal employees with an efficient tool for internal communication and collaboration.
Thanks to the carefully executed project, the implementation of modern technologies, and ongoing support after launch, the Municipality of Wachtebeke now has a future-proof digital environment. This enables the municipality to better serve its citizens and streamline its internal processes, contributing to more efficient local governance.
